As part of their promo for their spring/summer 2024 collection, Dion Lee, the brand created by American-Australian fashion designer Dion Lee, interviewed attendees of their show at New York Fashion Week earlier this month.
Attendees including Rachel Sennott, Law Roach, Hayley Williams, Ice Spice and Alix Earle were asked about what turns them on and off, and all had pretty standard answers — a good sense of humor, nice smells, food, music, etc. Few attendees, however, seemed prepared for the next question they were asked: “Do you know much about Frank Gehry?”
i’m crying so bad at not a single person knowing who that is pic.twitter.com/zE128g74eS

Of all the people interviewed, only one guessed right off the bat that Gehry is an architect — as Sennott explained, presumably after some off-camera coaching, the architect no less who designed 8 Spruce Street, the building Dion Lee’s show was being held in.
Several people asked if they were supposed to know who that was, while others, including famed stylist Law Roach, simply went with it: “Do you know who Frank Gehry is?” “No.” “He’s an architect.” “I love him!”

One model who was asked turned the question around on the interviewer, saying, “You don’t know who that is,” arguing that he didn’t know who Gehry was before this series of interviews. Get him!

Ice Spice’s response was undoubtedly the best, though: “Do you know much about architecture? Do you have a favorite?” “I like pyramids.”
For the uninitiated, in addition to 8 Spruce Street, Frank Gehry also designed the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao (New York’s famous Guggenheim was designed by the other famous Frank architect — Frank Lloyd Wright). He was also a guest on Arthur.

It’s not entirely clear what the point of asking famous attendees at a fashion show about an architect was — one commenter described the video as, “Or let’s make women who aren’t formally educated on architecture feel embarrassed that they don’t know a misogynistic asshole architect ”.
Now ask Frank Gehry if he knows Ice Spice https://t.co/1OX20CDdBT

While the video is bizarre, at least it gave us “I like pyramids,” which feels like 2023’s answer to “I like turtles.” Thank you for this gift Ice Spice.
